That special moment
The Proposal
As New Years Eve approached and Hunter grew steadily in Mama’s belly, Nathan nervously anticipated the moment that he would propose. Not a jewelry designer by trade, he drew up the ring he thought Sylvia would cherish most and enlisted the help of a friend to have it made. That year they attended a family New Years Eve party in Beacon, NY where Nathan planned to execute his proposal. As they counted down the final seconds of 2016, Nathan’s butterflies flew. The clock struck twelve and there was no turning back. He gave Sylvia a kiss, dropped to a knee, smiled and presented her with the ring. He was so caught up in the moment that he forgot to ask the big question. But that was ok; Sylvia was too stunned to notice. After 17 years, all she could do was cry tears of joy. This moment was way past due.
All you need to know
The Wedding
What to Wear
Keep it classy
Cocktail attire is recommended. The reception will be in the meadow behind the barn which might not be stiletto friendly, ladies. No jeans or trucker hats please.
Getting There
You’re not in the city anymore
This means you can’t rely on the convenience of Uber or Lyft to get you anywhere. We recommend either driving yourself, carpooling or taking advantage of our shuttle bus which will be transporting guests between the wedding and our hotel block. Also, please do not drink and drive.
Parking
There’s plenty of it
We encourage you to carpool, even with the 80 parking spaces at the West Monitor Barn. In the unlikely event that everyone drives themselves and it fills up, there is a Park & Ride off the i89 Richmond exit.
Travel & Accommodations
Fly like a bird
It’s almost too fast
The flight to Vermont (BTV) is just 50 minutes in the air from NYC. Descend into the rolling hills of Burlington with views of Mount Mansfield and Lake Champlain.
It’s a road trip!
Take a ride up i89
Rent a car and carpool with friends. It’s just a five hour drive from New York City to the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont; a good time to catch up.
Where to stay
Here are just a few options
We have a hotel block at the Courtyard Marriott in Williston for just $179/night; a good rate for foliage season in Vermont! This location is smack dab in the middle between the airport and wedding venue, and we’ve rented a shuttle bus to get you to the wedding and back safely. The after party will be in the hotel bar & lounge.
You could also get fancy and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn or Hotel Vermont in Burlington. We have personally stayed at and love both!
Or, rent an Airbnb in Nathan’s beautiful hometown of Waterbury, VT. It’s just a 15 minute drive from Waterbury Village to the wedding venue.
